Local Companies Launch Student Sponsorship
Program with In-Sight
As any photographer will tell you, photography can be an expensive
endeavor: camera, film, paper, and chemicals. Added to In-Sight’s
costs are rent, utilities, staff payroll, newsletter printing
and other mailings.
To help defray the costs of the program without
burdening the student body, In-Sight is establishing working
relationships with our corporate community to start a
Student Sponsorship Program. Companies that have
already committed gifts are: Brattleboro Food Co-Op,
Brattleboro Savings and Loan, Green Mountain Gringo,
Howard Printing, Marlboro College, Rock River
Communications, and Zephyr Design.
It costs roughly $400 per student for one class session,
but only 25 percent of our students are able to pay the
requested tuition of $185. The teenagers who can’t afford
to pay are often the ones in most need of direction and
guidance, and we’ve never turned away any interested
student. Currently, we are offering five classes and three
open labs, serving 30 students. These include classes in
partnership with Retreat Healthcare and The Women’s
Crisis Center.
In-Sight’s budget has grown considerably in the past
few years due to our increased enrollment and expanded
program. In the past, materials have been donated from
film and paper suppliers. However, due to changes in
the economy and across-the-board cuts in material grants
last year, we have had to purchase most of our materials
at retail prices.
Please join other local businesses in sponsoring
the growth and creativity of our local students.
Suggested donations are $185 for one class, $350
for two classes, and $500 for the year. In return,
we will list your company as a corporate sponsor in our
literature and at all of our events.
Thank you.
