Intro to Black and White 1

Mondays 6:15-8:15 beginning February 20
Have you seen darkrooms in movies and always wanted to work in one? Maybe you have an old camera you want to learn how to use? Or perhaps you’ve just always wanted to get in to photography? Try this class-- we have all the equipment and supplies you need to get started! Participants will learn to use 35mm cameras, process their own film, and make their very own prints in the darkroom! Participants should plan to attend at least one open lab per week to continue their work outside of class time.

Where Film Meets Digital

Like working with film and want to try digital? Interested in digital but want to know more about film? Have no idea which one you prefer? This is the class for you! Throughout the session, participants will learn manual controls of film and digital cameras, work in the darkroom and in photoshop all while learning ways to integrate film and digital practices to create their favorite work of art! Participants should plan to attend at least one open lab per week to continue their work outside of class time.

Stop-Motion Animation
with Ryan Stratton
Wednesdays 6:15-8:15, beginning February 15
Want to learn even more ways to use photography? Make your images comes to life in this class! Using clay, paper, figures, and other materials students will learn basic animation techniques. Throughout the class participants will complete individual and collaborative animations that can be uploaded to YouTube.

Exposures cross-cultural youth arts program
With Deb Ayer
Wednesdays 4:15-6:15, beginning February 15
So, you like photography and you want to share your work, see the work of your peers from around the country, and perhaps even have a chance to take a cross-cultural photo trip? Then this multi-media class is perfect for you! Participants will focus on using digital photography to complete and share projects with peers in Chicago, IL, Pine Ridge Reservation in SD, and The Navajo Nation in Arizona. Youth 15 years and older who participate in this program may apply for the 3 week Summer Program held in a host community during Summer 2012 (no youth is denied an opportunity to participate in the Summer Program due to lack of financial resources).

Important information: In-Sight provides all materials for every participant including cameras, film, printing supplies and more. No interested youth will be turned away if they can’t afford the suggested class fees. Classes meet weekly for 10 weeks, with breaks for school vacations and youth are expected to regularly attend open labs.
